3750 Speaker Series: Designing the New LaGuardia

DESIGNING THE NEW LAGUARDIA

PETER RUGGIERO

Lead Designer, New York’s LaGuardia Airport Reconstruction Project

Panoramic views of jets and gateways.   Natural light flooding all levels. Intuitive passenger navigation. World-class amenities.  This is NOT the LaGuardia Airport we know.

But it IS the LaGuardia that will be.

Later this year the first gates will open to a state-of-the-art airport like no other in the world.  And its stunning design is the work of a team of architects led by our own Peter Ruggiero (17F).

How did he and his team solve the myriad challenges that confronted them?

How does an architect mix steel and glass so that it speaks to its city and the world?

Peter will answer those questions in an image-filled presentation similar to the one that recently spellbound a thousand attendees in Manhattan.

He will be introduced by the architect of Chicago’s incomparable Riverwalk, our own Carol Ross-Barney.

If you love architecture, airplanes, or cities, you will be fascinated.
