Electronics Recycling

The Board of Directors is pleased to confirm that a new building service amenity – a recycling event for electronics – will take place November 05, 2022 – 9:00am – 12:00 noon.  This event mimics the popular annual paper shredding/recycling event ordinarily scheduled in May but will offer an option to deposit items in advance for recycling.

The list of acceptable items is extensive. Briefly, all electronic, electrical, and even metallic items, including computer peripherals, light fixtures, small appliances, or metal cabinets are acceptable.  Tube televisions, light bulbs and old CRTs are the main exceptions.

Action Plan:

On Thursday, October 27, NEWTECH E-SCRAP will deliver several bins to the building.  These bins will be placed in the basement outside the Receiving Room.  All appropriately sized, non-data sensitive, items may be placed in these bins at your leisure.  Data sensitive items (computers, tablets, phones, etc.) should be reserved for direct delivery on November 05 to the truck which will be stationed in the building rear alley. Direct delivery will insure “chain of custody.”  Newtech E-Scrap does certify recycling and destruction of all data devices (not done on-site).

If you are uncomfortable with this “chain of custody”, you may personally remove hard disk drives, SIM cards, etc.  If this is not possible, it is recommended that you eliminate such devices from your deposits.

The company’s motto is “The Past Powering the Future”.  The overall goal is to reduce, re-use and recycle.  Please note that data devices which exhibit potential for a “second life” will be placed in channels for distribution to under-served, under-privileged communities or individuals.  Once again, Newtech E-Scrap will certify that all data will be scrubbed from these devices prior to release.

Should you wish to recycle an “unacceptable item” such as on old tube television or similar, Newtech will accept it upon payment of a fee ranging from $25 to $100 per item.  This fee, cash or check, is to be paid directly to the driver/agent.  The corporation assumes no responsibility for payment of such individual transactions.

Finally, you can safely dispose of that old electric knife and DVR!
